What I started using on a random YouTuber’s advice is now arguably my favourite app that I use to manage information overload, tasks and just writing down my thoughts.

It’s really hard to describe what Notion is because it just does so many things and it does them all well. By definition, it’s a productivity, note taking and project management tool which has gained significant popularity over the years. Big names like Ali Abdaal recommend it and it is arguably the most important factor that led to the explosion which filled all of our YouTube feeds with productivity videos.

In this post, I’ll talk less about what it is and more about what I make of it and why I think you should use it.

The Minimalist Design

Notion has a clean, modern and minimalist design that makes it easy to use and relaxing to work on. Its user interface is intuitive and customizable so that you can tailor it to your preferences.

It is crazy how minimalist it looks considering how extensible it is.

The design is consistent across all platforms, including desktop and mobile, which makes it easy to switch between devices.

It’s easy to get started

The tool offers a variety of templates to help users get started quickly, including templates for meeting notes, project planning, and personal productivity. Its simple interface makes it easy to create and organize notes, tasks, and projects without feeling overwhelmed.

Moreover, you don’t need to install anything. It works extremely on a browser. Just sign up and try tinkering around.

Incredibly powerful

Notion’s power lies in its flexibility. It’s not just a note-taking app or a project management tool; it’s both and much more. Notion allows you to create databases, spreadsheets, and even custom apps to help you manage your workflow. You can add images, videos, tables, and other multimedia to your pages, making it easy to keep all your information in one place.

It’s free. Really, it’s free.

Even after using it for months, as I discovered new and new features, all of them turned out to be free. I just couldn’t figure out what exactly wasn’t included in the free plan and, to be honest, I still don’t. This is different from other softwares like Evernote which make it extremely clear how much better their app will be if we got a subscription.

Notion is so free that you’ll have to go to its website to specifically see those fantastical, out-of-this-world, unimaginable features that only paid users have access to.

It’s great for personal use

The subtle things like timestamps, good font, and calm colours make it the perfect app for just writing down your thoughts as you discover more about yourself.

In conclusion, Notion is an excellent tool for anyone looking to stay organized, productive, and on top of their work.

If I could use just one app for the rest of my life, I’d pick Notion.
